Heya - to help you best work with me I would like disclose to you that I am neurodivergent. In particular, I am formally diagnosed with dyslexia and also have profile significantly dyspraxia features.
What is Dyslexia ?
According to British Dyslexia Foundation
- Dyslexia is a learning difficulty which primarily affects reading and writing skills. However, it does not only affect these skills.
- Dyslexia is actually about information processing.
- Dyslexic people may have difficulty processing and remembering information they see and hear, which can affect learning and the acquisition of literacy skills.
- Dyslexia can also impact on other areas such as organisational skills.

- Dyslexia doesn’t impact intelligence
- Adults with dyslexia are likely to experience anxiety and stress in relation too navigating a neurotypical world.

- The ‘Dyslexic Dynamic’ report reveals that the top skills employers are looking for correspond closely to the skills of dyslexic thinkers, including accountability, resilience, initiative taking, reasoning, social influence, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and curiosity.
- According to an EY report “ Generally, a dyslexic cognitive profile will be uneven when compared to a neuro-typical cognitive profile. This means that dyslexic individuals really do think differently. What does this mean in work? These varied cognitive profiles give dyslexic individuals natural abilities to form alternative views and solve problems creatively. Heightened cognitive abilities in certain areas, such as visualisation and logical reasoning skills and natural entrepreneurial traits can bring a fresh, often intuitive perspective.”
What is my experience with dyslexia ?
I was diagnosed with Dyslexia at 22, and was lucky to be funded for an assessment DEI team at my workplace. Sadly a lot of people get diagnosed quite late or don’t have access to funding.
What do you need to do build access with me ?
- Spelling is a challenge for me, I use tools such as grammarly to support me but I don’t always get this right. You can correct my spelling but an ableist tone, will alienate me.
